Put-in-Bay Events All Season Long!
On this page is a useful Events Calendar, that lists all of the wonderful happenings on the island. Let's take a trek through all of the fun had on our favorite Ohio island each season. First, the month of April brings the crowds back to the rock. Mr. Ed's Pajama Party is a great kickoff to the year. Dress down and enjoy great live entertainment and PJ's. Also, typically on the same weekend is the Round House Bar Whiskey Light celebration. The symbolic gesture of turning on the "Whiskey Light" above the Round House Bar Entrance signifies the start of the tourist season. There are several fun April Weekends that tend to have lots of wedding parties. So much so, that they have been dubbed Bachelorette Weekends!
Next, May brings more fun. Our very own Put-in-Bay Spring Fling starts the month off right. This annual customer appreciation party is held in the Island Club. Here, attendees can enjoy live music and cold beverages while supporting a local cause. The annual Mardi Gras celebration includes drink specials and beads all around. The month of May is wrapped up with a huge Memorial Day Weekend Celebration.
So Much to See and Do!
As June approaches, the season kicks into high gear. This is one of the most popular times to visitputinbay. An upcoming event is the Put-In-Bay Music Festival. Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial is the host location for this festival. Several musical acts, including island performers take the main stage. Perry's Monument grounds is a great location for such an event. Another wildly popular event is the Put in Bay Pyrate Fest. The pirates take over DeRivera Park and setup an encampment. Also, there are historic tall ships in the harbor, really giving an authentic feel. One of the most well-known Put-In-Bay entertainers, Mike "Mad Dog" Adams is the king pirate of the fest.
The fun continues in July and August on Put-In-Bay Ohio. We celebrate the independence of the United States during our 4th of July festivities. Incredible fireworks can be seen in the harbor. Many guests try to get seating at the Boardwalk or Keys Restaurants for a front row seat. Key West Days are held each year with outstanding island entertainers. This is a reciprocal event from the Annual Put-In-Bay Days held in Key West each February.
September and October continue to have fun things to do on Put in Bay Island. One of the most popular is the Labor Day Weekend at the Bay. There are special parades and more to celebrate the weekend. Other September Events include Boaters New Years and Half Way to St. Patrick's Day. The annual Oktoberfest is held downtown under the big tent. Getting to Put-in-Bay
So, you've picked out the PIB Event you want to attend. To get to the island there are several options, with one being the most popular. Most people opt to board a Put-In-Bay Ferry like the Miller Ferry or Jet Express for transport. Both offer passenger service to the island, while the Miller also takes vehicles. Another option is via airplane. The Put-In-Bay Airport is open during daylight hours only. There are no runway lights, so night operation is not feasible. Still, most will opt to float across which is part of the fun itself!
Stay on Island for Put-In-Bay Events
With so many awesome events each year, it is easy to see why the island is so popular. The best way to see it all and get the full experience is to stay overnight on the island. There are great Put-In-Bay Hotels, home rentals and waterfront Put-In-Bay Condos to fit each group. Also, guests can opt to rent a golf cart from the onsite staff!
First, for those wanting great location and service, the Commodore Resort is the answer. They are the only Put-In-Bay Resort located on Delaware Ave. Here, guests can expect well appointed rooms, direct access to downtown Put-In-Bay and tons of entertainment onsite. This is a great way to see the island. The Commodore is a preferred bay lodging resort.
Second, the home rental authority on South Bass Island is Island Club Home Rentals. They offer vacation homes in the Island Club, as well as waterfront rentals at the Put-In-Bay Condos. The advantages of a rental home are many with private rooms, full kitchens and lots of space for everyone. These are perfect for your bachelor or bachelorette party.
