Good riddance 2020 … Welcome 2021 … let’s hope and pray it will be a better year! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas filled with lots of love, laughter and good health. We want to give a huge shout out to the PIB Recreation Committee for making the senior Christmas fruit baskets happen again this year. What a wonderful gift to all the island seniors to keep this special holiday tradition going even during the current pandemic! They made up a whopping 150 baskets and added a little something “extra special” to each one to hopefully make up for having to cancel our Christmas luncheon. I know everyone appreciates their hard work and generosity!
At the time of this writing, we’re not sure when the Senior Centers will reopen. The Ottawa County Commissioners, along with the County Health Department and Senior Resources, continue to monitor the spread of the virus and have decided to keep the senior centers closed until further notice due to the ongoing pandemic. Hopefully now that Covid-19 vaccines are starting to be administered, we’ll begin to see light at the end of the tunnel. We’ll have to be patient and work together to facilitate a smooth transition to a new way of using the Senior Center while following the mandated guidelines. We are looking forward to the day when we can return to normal, but as we work toward that end, we want to make sure everyone is safe and gets to join in.
We are all looking with hope that 2021 will be filled with old and new activities, food, fun and fellowship as soon as we get the ok to reopen! Until then, keep on social distancing, wearing your masks and washing your hands.
