5. Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center

Families are sure to find so much to do here.  Onsite there is the Butterfly House, Gemstone Mining, a War of 1812 themed mini golf course, rock wall and Perry’s Cave to explore.  Here, Oliver Hazard Perry procured clean drinking water for his men during the Battle of Lake Erie.  Guests will find that there is so many choices that all ages will find a fun activity at Perry’s Cave Family Fun Center.

4. South Bass Island State Park

Nestled on the Southern Shore of our Lake Erie Island, this great State Park has lots to offer.  The lakefront location affords visitors a chance to swim at one of the public Put-in-Bay beaches.  Just up the shore, more water sports can be enjoyed with a jet ski or boat rental.  Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rentals also has kayaks available.  From the boat launch and shore area, the Catawba, Port Clinton and Oak Harbor communities can be seen in the distance.

Take in exceptional Put-in-Bay Island sunsets from the shoreline at SBI State Park.  Grab a drink or ice cream treat from the nearby Saunders Golf Course and imagine yourself out on the lake.  On the water, paddleboarding your troubles away.  Reconnect the family with nature with a trip to this fantastic Lake Erie waterfront park.

3. Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial

By far, the most recognizable sight on the Put-in-Bay Ohio horizon is Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial.  This massive column pays homage to Oliver Hazard Perry’s victory during the Battle of Lake Erie.  The onsite Visitor’s Center has several wonderful exhibits outlining Perry’s achievements.

For the most unique sightseeing perspective, guests can ascend to the observation deck for outstanding views.  See nearly all of the Lake Erie Islands including Gibraltar Island, Middle Bass Island, Kelleys Island and beyond to places like Sandusky!  From so high up, the visitor center looks like a dot!  Bring the kids for a fun and educational experience at our National Park!

2. Explore Downtown Put-in-Bay

The area around DeRivera Park and the famed Delaware Ave have so much to offer.  There is an impressive selection of shops with wares and gifts for the whole family.  Also, there are a wealth of wonderful Put-in-Bay Restaurants to indulge in.

Many of the local establishments have great kids menus and offer good deals for children menus.  Check out the downtown docks and watch the Jet Express come in the Harbor.  Simply enjoying the playground with the kids is a great way to spend an afternoon.

1. Rent a Golf Cart

The way to see the most on the island is with a Golf Cart Rental.  Put-in-Bay island is about 2.5 x 4 miles.   So, with a golf cart, guests can really see all of South Bass Island in one day.  Head out and see the abundance of parks and nature preserves.  Buzz out by the Miller Ferry and check out the South Bass Island Lighthouse.  Head over to Adventure Bay and let the kids try and hit some balls at the batting cages.  Park down near the Boardwalk Restaurant and get high with Put-in-Bay Parasailing.  With a Golf Cart, guests can really just have more fun!
