Welcome to the Put-in-Bay Condos!!! With so many different island attractions it can be hard to figure out which ones you should check out, but lucky for you we’re going to give you a list of the top attractions near the Condos! Keep in mind all Put-in-Bay attractions are fun for their own reasons, so this list isn’t in any type of order.
The South Bass Island State Park
The SBI State Park is awesome for a lot of reasons including jet ski rentals, kayak rentals, picnic areas, pavillion, golf course, playground, breakfast, camping, RV parking, and more. Restrooms are available near the camping sites. Don’t forget to check out “Joe’s Bar” located right across the street from the entrance!!!
The Put-in-Bay Airport
Usually when you hear that the place your staying is next to an airport, you might find yourself to be pretty annoyed. However, at Put-in-Bay, Ohio this is not the case!! Our airport only allows small private aircraft to land there due to it’s size, meaning you get to see some pretty cool planes and helicopters. Also, once a year they shut down the runway and hold antique car races that are very fun to watch.
Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial
More commonly known as Perry’s Monument, this statue was originally built to honor commodore Oliver Hazard Perry for his victory in the “Battle of Lake Erie” which took place during the War of 1812. Tours are available during certain times and you can even take an elevator to the very top for the best view on the entire island!
Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center
Com. Perry also discovered “Perry’s Cave,” which is now known for it’s amazing mini-golf course, Butterfly house exhibit, antique car museum, gemstone mining, maze, and more! They also have a rock wall to climb most of the time depending on weather. This is a true guest favorite! Perfect place to have some family fun if you brought the kids, but you’ll definitely still enjoy it if you didn’t.
Pyrate Fest
Pyrate Fest takes place in June (cancelled for 2020) where pirates come on a massive ship to take over DeRivera Park at the heart of downtown Put-in-Bay! They have costumes, reenactments, water pistols, and hunts for treasure available for family friendly fun, and the nightlife is still awesome!
Getting to the island
To get to Put-in-Bay island you need to take a Put-in-Bay ferry, or boaters can drive themselves and rent dock space. The two ferry services that go to the island are the Miller Ferry boat line and the Jet Express passenger-service only ferry.
The Jet Express has docks in Sandusky and Port Clinton while the Miller ferry launches out of Catawba. No ferry services are available from Cleveland or Toledo. You can also check out other Lake Erie Islands via these ferries such as Kelley’s Island and Middle Bass Island. Come see all the best attractions!
